Connecting tubing with magnets

Current hardware used to connect tubing to equipment or other tubing requires healthcare personnel to turn them, thereby screwing the hardware together. But magnetically latching connectors from Medrad (medrad.com) Pittsburgh, simply click together when brought close enough to each other, due to magnets in each half. And a simple turn of the two connector halves will separate them. The connection technique reduces operator effort, gives tactile and audible feedback that the connection has been made, and eliminates inadequately tightened connectors, thus lowering the risk of fluid or air leaks. The technique also works with tapered interference fits (or luer), o-rings, and face seals.
